NOTD: Turquoise Sea Gelish Glitter Gradient

Hi Everyone!

Still remember 2 months back which is March 2013, I went for a short getaway with my family to Kuala Lumpur (“K.L”) Malaysia [read here for what I pack for my skin care items for the trip]

It was a short 4D3N trip and I spend most of my time shopping and eating. And nope, I didn’t really buy back a lot of stuffs. Mainly going for relaxing.

On the 3rd day of the trip, my brother bring us to Sungai Wang Plaza. I realized that this shopping mall is kinda like a wholesales mall for beauty related items. Found a shop that look decent in doing mani/pedicure (by decent means it doesn’t look like those bugis village those kind). So me and my mum had a lovely mani & pedicure session. My 1st time doing Gel mani & pedicure.

I took this picture straight away after I done with it! Here I choose to do a gradient turquoise gel color. I think they used Gelle gel polish. Pardon me for not showing my pedicure. Not comfortable showing you guys my feet here.

Here’s another photo of me and my mum’s gradient nail color. She did a peachy gradient tone.

Apparently, my mum’s gel nail color doesn’t last her a good 3 months due to excessive washing & doing house chores.

This is my 5 weeks old gel nails, doesn’t seem to chip on me. No wonder my mum keeps nagging on me for not doing any chores that why mine doesn’t chip unlike her. Haha!

I did both classic for my mani & pedicure and gel color for both hand & leg plus design, end up paying RM240. Kinda expensive I know. But it’s my 1st time doing. So why not? Next time I’d just do a normal gel color for my toes. Much cheaper =(

Hope you enjoy this small post on NOTD!

Review: Kiehl's Ultra-Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++

Hi Everyone!

I guess it’s another good time to talk about sunscreen again. The weather here in Singapore is getting warmer each day and “unstable” at times. Why would I say unstable? It can get sunny in the morning and heavy showering later in the afternoon. I’ve previously brought lots of sunscreens for backup and my last favorite was KOSE Sunscreen SPF50 PA+++, as it doesn’t give me greasy feeling after applying and sort of having oil controlling properties (I’m not sure but my face does not grease up at the end of my day).

Two months back, my KOSE sunscreen finally cleared up and has the chance to explored Kiehl’s Ultra-Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA +++ sunscreen.

I first heard about Kiehl’s sunscreen is by their friendly SA back in 2011 during Christmas season [read here], where I was buying gifts and just to get their membership, I splurge on their sunscreen.

While other sun protection products offer protection from certain UV rays, Ultra-light Daily UV Defense protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays via a high level sun filter ingredients like Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL. Ultra-light sunscreen is also part of their Dermatologist Solution. For those of you who are not familiar with UVA and UVB, UVA ray penetrate deeply into the skin and is the main cause for skin aging (think A for Aging) and UVB ray cause sun burning (think B for Burn). As for the PA+++, it indicates the highest standard of protection against UVA.

What Kiehl’s promise about their Ultra-Light Daily UV Defense sunscreen is that it’s Oil-Free, Fragrance-Free, Colorant-Free, protect skin against the appearance of dark spots, freckles, wrinkles, skin darkening, protecting skin against premature skin aging, non-comedogenic and is safe for sensitive skin

I’ve been using Kiehl’s Ultra-light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA +++ sunscreen daily for 2 months now. The first thing I notice upon application is the texture. I’ve been so used to liquid-based sunscreen (you know those sunscreen where you have to shake to mixed them up well) that when I first used Kiehl’s, the feeling is so different. It came in a small tub, no need to shake to mix them up. It has a creamy texture and upon application, it’s amazingly super lightweight for an SPF 50 sunscreen! Even my previously loved KOSE can’t beat the lightweight. Definitely live up to its claims for Ultra-light! It applies with ease and absorb fast into the skin without feeling sticky or greasy. I usually used a pea sized (or abit more) for my whole face. For a better result, Kiehl’s recommended to use a moisturizer before apply Ultra-Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA +++. Half-way through my day, I felt that my skin started to grease up. Asked my bf to touch it and see if he felt that way too, but he said my face wasn’t oily. I guess Ultra-light Daily UV Defense did moisturize my skin alittle. I do not encounter any white cast after applying this sunscreen even though it has an SPF 50. One thing I felt that it’s worth mentioning is that I think its sweat-proof. Normally I’d sweat from walking to bus stop on a hot sunny morning, but this sunscreen doesn’t melt on me nor felt greasy together with the sweat (yucks!). This is super important for us living in Singapore, whereby every day is summer season. But most of the time I’m in air-conditional room, only during lunch time and/or off work will expose to sun, so an SPF 50 with PA+++ is good for me.

As said earlier, I brought my Ultra-light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA +++ sunscreen back in 2011 and it’s retailing for S$68 for 30ml. Today, 2013, Kiehl’s Singapore shrinks their price. Their new price tag for Ultra-light Daily UV Defense sunscreen is now retailing for only S$52 for 30ml, either S$78 or S$90 (I’m not too sure for the jumbo size pricing) for a jumbo size; 60ml. That was like S$16 cheaper for the 30ml and it’s a permanent price cut! [view herefor other Kiehl’s products that’s also included in the price cut.

Overall, I’d definitely repurchase this sunscreen after I’ve used it up! 10/10 rating for kiehl’s sunscreen! My new HG and a must sunscreen for me now!

If you’re looking for a lightweight sunscreen with SPF 50 PA+++, do consider giving Kiehl’s a try or ask from their friendly SA for a sample sachet. They are more than willing to allow you to try it out before making the full purchase. And let me know how it works for you!

Review: Travalo Mini Refillable Perfume Spray

Hi Everyone!

As promise on the previous post [read here], I’m going to do a review on this mini refillable perfume spray called “Travalo”.

First of all, please allow me to introduce Travalo.

Travalo; a mini refillable perfume spray that refills directly from a standard perfume bottle. It is designed to have perfectly rounded, no corners and no edges “bullet” form that allows you to slip into bags or pockets easily. Not only that, it comes in 2 sizes; 4ml (50 sprays) and 5ml (65 sprays) respectively. It also has an integrated fill level indicator window so you’ll not overfill or run out of perfume unexpectedly. Travalo is safe to travel on-board as their automatic pressure control system reacts to changes in air pressure and prevents leakage.”

- Travalo

Here, I have with me my 2 lovely Travalo which I brought off our local Guardian Pharmacy store. Retailing at S$16.90 for a 4ml spray. I’ve checked them out at Watsons and to my horror; an increase in 1ml can lead to a huge price change! In our local Watsons store, a 5ml travalo (65 Spray) is retailing for S$26.90. So after I did some calculation, an increase of 1ml, 15 more times sprays lead to an S$10 more increment. So is it worth to spend extra S$10 more for that 1ml? I’d say a big NO to that! Just my 2cents worth.

Now, you might be thinking how to use a Travalo?

Follow these few steps and you’re ready to go!

Step 1: For this demo, I’m going to use my Gold Travalo which I’ll be filling it up with my favourite scents of the moment; LOVE by Chloe. Take off the nozzle of your favourite perfume. As shown in the picture above. You’ll then see a straw-like thing as shown in the picture below.

Step 2: Get ready your Travalo

Step 3: Simply place the base of the Travalo to the spray nozzle of your favourite perfume and pump it up and down. Repeat this pumping motion until you’ve fill up the vial.

Step 4: After you’ve filled it all up, it should look like this. As shown in the picture above. An atomiser filled with your favourite scents and you’re ready to bring them out!

The only cons I have with Travalo are that the one I brought for my mum (light pink) does leak even though it stated leak-proof! I’m not sure why but both of my Travalo (hot pink and gold) doesn’t give me any problems at all. Such a huge disappointment that my mum are facing. I guess the one I brought off the shelf for my mum are defected.

And oh, if you’re planning to place other scents into your Travalo, be sure to rinse out the previous fragrance. How, you asked me? I would suggest getting a similar spraying nozzle and pump in some tap water and spray them out.

My current Travalo contains Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture on the Hot Pink Travalo and LOVE; Chloe by Chloe on the Gold Travalo. Love my Chloe perfume! It gives off a fresh smell like as if you’ve just bathe.xc

Travalo is retailed at most Watsons, Guardian, Metro, BHG and other departmental stores at S$16.90 for 4ml, S$26.90 for 5ml.

Do try it out for yourself and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed (other than the one it leaks on my mum)!

Sponsored Review: Liese Bubble Hair Dye in Jewel Pink

Hi Everyone!

I’m back with another exciting review to share with you! Ahh, it has been such a long time since I last shared about D.I.Y hair dye. See my last D.I.Y review here (Review).

It’s Liese Bubble Hair Dye in Jewel Pink and what’s more, it’s their new color!

What surprise me in this press kit was that they kindly included a fresh rose for me! Aww.. so nice of them. :)

To be truthful, I’ve been a user of Liese Bubble Hair Dye back in my schooling days when exam is over & self-declared holiday/graduated. And also I’ve helped my bf mum & bf god-sis in dyeing their hair with Liese Bubble Hair Dye.

But for this mission on trying out Liese’s new hair color, I’ve decided to call upon my BFF (Valerie) just because I’ve recently dyed my hair at my regular hair salon.

What you’ll find in each hair dye kit is one hair coloring solution, one developer, a pair of glove, rinse-off conditional, one bubble pump and user guide.

As I missed out on the preparation of the bubble hair dye solution pictures, here’s a brief explanation:

- Mixed solution 1 into solution 2, close the lid and gently tilt it up and down for about 10~15 times. Do not shake the solution too vigorously!

- After done with the mixing, replace the white cap with the pink bubble pump

- Bottle straight up and squeeze the middle potion of the bottle to dispense the bubble.

- And there you go! Your beautiful bubble hair dye.

What Valerie teaches me during the dyeing process which I think is worth mentioning is that always start from the roots of your hair, section by section. After done with the roots, then follow by the hair ends. This way, your roots will be fully covered with hair dye and new growth hair is easier to absorb the coloring.

And after the whole head is covered by Liese Bubble Hair Dye, give your hair a massage. That will foam up the bubble hair dye even more!

Basically, I leave Liese Bubble Hair Dye on Valerie’s hair for about 30 ~ 45mins before she rinse it out.

This color is actually gorgeous. Brown with a slight hint of pink which is not very obvious under normal lighting.

One thing I wish to point out while we’re in the process of dyeing, the hair dye sometimes come out in foam, sometimes in liquid state. Not sure if it’s user problem or the pump that produce the bubble. Overall, both Valerie and I are very satisfied with Liese Bubble Hair Dye. Not only it’s convenient if you’re dyeing it yourself, it doesn’t have a strong chemical smell unlike other DIY hair dye kit.

I would rate this product an 4/5!

Liese Bubble Hair Dye is available at most Watsons, Guardian and major Supermarkets @ S$19.90.

Thanks to Elfaine from EK Media for letting me and valerie try out this hair dye! :D

Giveaway Time!

I’ve another box of Liese Bubble Hair Dye in Jewel Pink; the exact same color Valerie is using in my post, to giveaway to 1 lucky reader.

All you have to do is to leave a comment below with your NAME and EMAIL ADDRESS (kindly remember to leave your name and email address on your comment so I’m able to contact you if you’re 1 of the winner. I’ve encountered some who doesn’t leave your email, how to contact you if you win?)! Simple right? Giveaway will end on 1st May 2013, 11.59pm (Wednesday). Act on now!

Good Luck everyone!

My Travel Skincare / Makeup Items

Hi Everyone!

Since I'm traveling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ("KL"), this afternoon with my family for a short 4D3N trip, I think this is a good time to share what skincare products I'll be bringing since this is my 1st travel ever since 2004. (yes, that's very long!)

I'll be bringing my usual skincare routine but packed them in a smaller container.

For stuffs that I'll be putting on my face:

- Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser as my day & night facial cleanser. In my opinion, the type of cleanser doesn't really matter. Just get something that is suitable for you and able to cleanse your face clean.

- Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser as a backup facial cleanser just in case my mum wants to use it. This cleanser doesn't foam up like your typical facial cleanser, it's a soapless forming gel. As the SA explained to me, this cleanser work best on oily combination skin. As I didn't use this cleanser before, I'm not sure how it rate.

- Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion as my day & night toner. I just brought a small container from Muji and transfer them into it. I've reviewed them on my blog previously. (Review)

- Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Essence as my day & night essence. Have been using this essence since late last year and my face does brighten up just a tiny bit. Not much significant changes.

- Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk as my day & night moisturizer. The same as my toner, I brought a small container and just transfer them into it.

- Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defence as my sunblock. It have SPF 50 PA+++ and best of all? The texture is very lightweight. So much different as to compare with my previous loved sunblock (Kose). I shall do up a review on this sunblock after I'm back from my trip!

I also will be bringing along my Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye as my night time eyecream. This eyecream does give me a fresher looking eye by morning. I shall also do up a review on this eyecream as well. Tentatively thou.

For my lips, I'm currently using Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 with SPF 4 in Mint. This is a limited edition flavour during Christmas season. Upon applying, you can feel a sense of tingling cooling effect. It's because of the mint menthol ingredient. Love the cooling effect on my lips :)

Let's not also forget about makeup remover! Here I'm using Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil. This is also another limited edition packaging. I loves limited edition! LOL. Have been a faithful user of Fancl MCO as it really good in removing all trace of makeup and also stubborn, waterproof makeup as well! I gave my travel sized MCO to my sister-in-law as she wanted to try out this makeup remover, so I gotta bring this full sized product for travel. Not really full sized as it only left about 1/4 of product.

For this trip, I'll be bring along masks just in case I wanted to have a pamering session at night.

And also some basic/simply makeup as well. I just recover from full face of pimples and now is left with some scaring and I'll be taking pictures as well.

- Benefit Hello Flawless! as my foundation. This foundation is really good! It does help in "concealing" acne scaring or pigmentation and the coverage is buildable. Not only that, it does also contains SFP 15. The only downside is that the staying power is quite low. Gotta touchup after like 4hours? Normally I just hack it, but if I know I'll be taking photos, I'll do some touchup.

- Majolica Majorca single eyeshadow in BE286 as a wash on my eyelid to have abit of color to it.

- K-Palette 1Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner 24hr Waterproof

- M.A.C Technakohl Liner Eye-Liner Kajal in Purple Dash

I'll also be bringing along my contact lens, 1 Day Acuvue Moist, and my Rohto Lycee contact lens eyedrop just in case my eyes are dry from the contact lens. I've previously reviewed the eyedrop. Read it here. (Review)

And lastly, some other miscellaneous items that I'll be bring along with me as well.

- My Beauty Diary Oil Absorbent paper
- Small mirror given by Enavose
- Avene Cold Cream Body Lotion
- Avene Thermal Spring Water
- Travalo mini refillable perfume with my Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy perfume (also might review on the travalo mini perfume spray)
- Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer in Fresh Sparkling Snow. Another christmas edition LOL!

So yep, that's all for my skincare/makeup for my short trip. Feels good to take a short break from all the hectic things that have been happening lately. I know it's only Malaysia, but hey, I've not been going overseas since 2004. So that should be a happy thing for me.
And oh ya, enjoy your long weekend everyone!!

Sponsored Review: Vita Green Lingzhi

Hi Everyone!

I'm finally backed to blogging after such a long hiatus.
Today, I’m going to introduce a health care / Traditional Chinese Medicine (“TCM”) which I’ve never shared in my blog before and most likely, most of you are not familiar with it.

Back in last month, I received this Vita Green Lingzhi to try it out. I've heard a lot good things about Lingzhi but it’s pretty expensive & quite bitter. Now, I got the chance to try out this wonderful product

What is Lingzhi?

After much google-ing and Wikipedia about Lingzhi, this is what I’ve learned:

Lingzhi (also known as Reishi) is the rarest and most precious Chinese medical herbs in nature, renowned for its superb healing powers and free from side effects. Lingzhi has long been prized for its ability to strengthen the heart, boost energy, improve memory, refine the complexion, promote good circulation, restore health and lead to longevity. Lingzhi is also said to provide energy to men, help woman gain a glowing complexion, restore health to the elderly and bring about longevity.

Do you know that Lingzhi is so rare that it can only be found in the deepest part of the remote mountain forests where the soil and humidity provide the perfect conditions. Even then, only two or three trees out of every 100,000 will bear wild Lingzhi around its base. That explains the cost of Lingzhi is high.

Vita Green Lingzhi; which finally landed in Singapore, has been the #1 best-selling Lingzhi product in Hong Kong for 10 years.

Thanks to Vita Green, now you can consume Lingzhi at your own convenience without spending hours brewing them.

Vita Green Lingzhi comes in the form of capsules and is made up of 6 different types of lingzhi in different colors. I guess most of you doesn’t know that each color of lingzhi actually serve different function and benefits?

-          White for Lungs

-          Green for Liver and Eyes

-          Black for Brain and Kidneys

-          Violet for Replenish Vital Energy

-          Red for Joint, Skin and Heart

-          Yellow for Spleen and Intestines

Not only Lingzhi does wonder in our inner body, beauty also comes from within. You are what you eat. Vita Green Lingzhi promises Beauty, Anti-aging, Antioxidant, Reduce allergy symptoms, Reduce White Hair, Reduce age spots and helps in getting your beauty sleep.

Vita Green Lingzhi also claims to contain the highest amount of wild Lingzhi with each capsule containing 3.3 grams, the dose recommended by medical experts. Vita Green Lingzhi is also suitable for all ages, both male and female and can be consumed over an extensive period of time, often helping alleviating the side effects of Western medicines. It is recommended to consume 1-2 capsule daily.

I have been taking 1 capsule for few weeks, and I haven’t notice any change in my complexion at the moment. But I do notice that I seem to get into sleep much faster than usual. Not sure if I’m plain tired or due to consumption of lingzhi. I’m glad that I do not have any white hair to start off with, so I can’t comment much on reducing white hair.

I believe TCM or any supplement needs to consume for a longer period of time to see some improvement in you.

Vita Green Lingzhi; comes in 72 capsules per bottle, is retailing for S$129 at Guardian. Right now, it’s going at S$109 (introductory offer cux just launch in SG). Give it a try if you are looking for a natural supplement that can give you anti-aging properties and maintain good health.

Thanks to Elfaine from EK Media for letting me try out. :D

Sponsored Review: Enavose Cellogist Neck Lift Cream

Hi Everyone!

About a week ago, I received a package from Enavose. I'm sure those who have been following me are not a stranger to this brand. No doubt that they've been such a great team! Check out what they've prepared. Beside the signature Enavose classic box, they included a scarf too. They never fail to impress me with all their creatively juices. :)

Today, I'm showing you yet another Enavose Star Product; Cellogist Neck Lift Cream.

Upon opening, what awaiting for me are;
- Cellogist Neck Lift Cream
- magical scroll for me
- fresh orchid (it smell nice!)

By now, you've some idea of what product I'm talking today. A product that can bring hope to fearful women who are currently experiencing wrinkles on their neck line!

Enavose Cellogist Neck Lift Cream; arrest telling signs of ageing and affirm youth with spectacular toning, firming and tightening of the V-zone (area from chin line to the cleavage). This powerful neck lifting cream considerably improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkling and sagging skin. Fight the "turkey neck" effect with robust youth-rousing actions that start from deep within to give you an attractive décolletage.

The active ingredients that made up of the neck lift cream are; Telomax, Kigelia Africana Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Vitamin C, Swiss Glacial Water.

Cellogist Cosmeceutical's Proprietary CS-IT
CS-IT defies skin ageing through comprehensive skin health support. Powered by Telomax, a superb age-defence active that delves deep into skin's core - and synergised with InterCell System, a foremost encapsulation technology that promotes greater penetration to cross barriers in skin. Encapsulation technology allows for time-release of Swiss Glacial Water, giving hydration and protection for a longer period of time.

Out of the box, the cream is encased in a round jar with an airless mechanism. The airless mechanism ensure the product does not come in contact with air or bacteria and is kept at its optimum freshness and only dispensed the product when use.

To get the product out, you'll see a small opening in the center of the white disk. Press downwards completely and tada! there you have your one's worth use of product to prevent any wastage. I'm impressed by this method of dispensation as I wouldn't need to dip my fingers or use a spatula to get the product out. More hygienic i'd say

Enavose also take pride in details by using safe ingredients, effective products and thoughtful packaging.

All you need to do is apply Enavose Cellogist Neck Lift Cream evenly on neck and décolletage after morning and night after cleansing.

After using it for about a week, the cream does help in hydrating my neck and little firmer (i guess). As I doesn't have any major issue with loose or wrinkles on my neck yet, I can't really comment on any drastic different. But prevention is better then cure, am i right? I'd give this product a 4 stars out of 5.

If you're currently on a hunt for a neck cream, why not stop by Enavose and check them out? Get them at promotional price of S$69 (usually retail at S$99.50) at Suntec Concept Store or Enavose Online Store.
That's not all. With every Cellogist Neck Lift Cream purchased, get 20% off all regular-priced merchandise from the Cellogist range.

Promotion ends on Thursday, 28 February 2013.
